When I was in the UK I would always allow potential new owners to come visit me and my pouched rats. This shouldn't be an issue with any good breeder.

Please do not get a baby younger than 6 weeks old, this practice is not something UKpouchies endorses as babies are only just reaching natural weening age. Many health problems and early deaths have been caused by unethical breeders removing babies as young as 3-4 weeks.

Sadly there are not very many breeders in the UK at the moment and if there are any new breeders they are not making themselves very known. There is a new National Pouched Rat Society setting up and I know one of their goals is to have a list of current good ethical breeders. The website is not quit...

Hi, sadly pouched rat breeders seem to be very rare in the UK over recent years. Sharon Hunter is based in the north of England and breeds occasionally and there is anther name I need to find contact details for.

Hi Squirrel, Totally agree it is a stupid law but made even more difficult with suspicions being linked to bush meat and ebola and pouched rats being hunted as bush meat in Africa :-o we will be based in San Francisco, California and we will be taking the dogs... really don't think I could of coped ...
