Here at UK Pouchies we are always keen to pass on the knowledge and insight that we have with these fascinating animals.
We have the ability to visit your school/educational facility or wildlife establishment to carry out a presentation on the background and capabilities of these wonderful creatures.
Our visit would include the following:
- Powerpoint presentation on a brief history of the animals and their natural habitat, followed by the current fascianting work that they are doing for APOPO and HeroRAT in detecting landmines in war torn countries along with their detection of TB within the medical arena.
- Hands on demonstration of scent detection with fake landmines.
- Meet and greet the stars themselves, our own tame Pouched Rats.
- Pouched rats quiz (can be adapted to different age groups). The quiz will be based on the previous presentation.
Educational visits can last on average between 45mins to an hour at a time.
All we require for the demonstration is a projector and a screen to be provided for our laptop hookup.
We will bring with us one or several of our hand tame animals for a hands on demonstration; please note that as we are not a business, we do not have public liability insurance so hands on activities with the animals will be restricted. We may also not be able to include live animals in our demonstrations if a member of the audience suffers from any type of pet or fur allergy.
As we are not a business we do not charge for our time, however to enable us to attend your venue we may respectfully ask for a travel and materials contribution to cover expenses of the visit.
