RIP Ziyal
It is with deepest regret that we must announce that Ziyal passed away today 13th December 2009.
She was the inspiration behind UKpouchies and will be greatly missed and never forgotten.

UKpouchies training Knowsley Safari Parks, new Pouchie
As you may be aware from recent news articles, UKpouchies has given a home to the two former male Pouched Rats that were at Knowsley Safari Park. Unfortunately the two brothers were far too timid and nervous to interact with the public; Knowsley wanted to use the rats in educational lessons to demonstrate the work they do for HeroRAT and Apopo.
UKpouchies is now training a juvenile male that will eventually go to live at the park and take part in these displays; if you would like to check up on the training please click the link below to see the latest video:

Kofi is famous!
One of the babies from one of our litters named by his new owner as Kofi has been made famous by appearing in 'The Sun' news paper and their website promoting the work they do for charities such as Apopo and HeroRat.

NPRS (National Pouched Rat Society) - Registry
The National Pouched Rat Society has a dedicated registry where Pouched Rat owners and breeders alike can register their animals including any details of litters.
As responsible keepers and breeders the registry will be used to avoid interbreeding of these still relatively new animals in the domesticated pet arena.
Please note that it is NOT a requirement to be part of the society to be able to register your animal.
