NPRS to close down

Post by Trekky » 12 Jan 2011 21:03

Sadly due to a lack of interest and support for the National Pouched Rat Society, it will be closing down.

Plans were being made for its future through 2010 with it being looked into setting it up as a registered charity and it becoming an official rescue charity that would be set up as a foster network accross the country with the aim to raise money for an eventual rescue centre for these magnificent animals but sadly it would seem there are not enough people within the pouched rat community that would be prepared to back and help run the scheme.

The website will continue to remain for another year in the event that there may be a change of heart within the community and owners and enthusiasts would like to show their support but after this time it will fully close down.

I feel this is such a shame as with the growing popularity of Pouched rats the number of rats being re-homed has continued to grow.

We have had some positive feedback on the NPRS Facebook discussion board with offers of help coming in.

If we can turn this around then the plan will be to relaunch the National Pouched Rat Society as a rescue and fostering network charity with the aim to raise funds to hopefully have a rescue centre. :-D

If anyone on the forum would like to join in and offer any help or suggestions how we could get the NPRS off the ground and recognised then please feel free to PM me.
