Meet Our Pouched Rats
ZiyalZiyal was first and foremost our family pet as all our ratty friends are, she was also our first breeding female. She is what we described as bombproof, was phased by nothing and loved cuddles with her mum. She will be sorely missed by all who met her, rest in peace Zee Bee Dee. |
OdoOdo was Ziyal's life long companion. He hated being apart from Ziyal and can be a tad temperamental at times especially if he is woken up from an afternoon nap! After being on his own for over a year Odo has since been paired with our newest girl, B'Elanna. |
B'ElannaB'Elanna came to us as a rehome from some friends and we decided to keep B'Elanna as a new companion for Odo. She is a very busy girl liking nothing better than being able to go of and explore. She also has a reputation for being a good escape artist. |
ToraIntroducing the new face of UKpouchies. Tora is the daughter of Odo and B'Elanna and was one of 3 girls from their first litter. She is the sweetest girl I know and loves being in the middle of the family environment. She is very gentle in nature and is unphased by any new experience we have introduced her to. There are no plans as yet for Tora to become one of our breeding females. |
NerysNerys is our current eldest female and she was paired with Danar to bring him out of his shell; we have found that social interaction between a timid animal and a well socialised animal will actually improve the social skills of the more timid. Nerys you might be interested to know is also the grand daughter of Ziyal and Odo. |
KiraKira is the daughter of Nerys and Danar from their last litter of 2010. After the sad death of Danar. It was decided to keep Kira as a new companion for Nerys, sadly Kira died in Feb 2011 after going into Torpor. |
DanarDanar as he was known was formerly Dan from Knowsley Safari Park's pair of Pouched Rats. Unfortunately Dan was too shy for public interaction at the park so we gave him a home at UKpouchies. He was a very shy and timid young man but was gradually coming out of his shell once paired with Nerys. Danar sadly died 22nd December 2010 due to an infection caused from being neutered. |
